Plóvdiv (en búlgar, Пловдив, del grec Filipòpolis, "Φιλιππούπολις") és una ciutat de Bulgària. Amb una població de 376.785 (2004) és la segona ciutat del país, després de la capital, Sofia.
Està situada en les terres baixes de Tràcia, al costat del Maritsa i dels set turons. La població és, predominantement, búlgara tot i que habiten la ciutat minories de gitano|gitans, turcs, hebreus i Armènia|armenis
L'any 342 aC fou conquerida per Felip II de Macedònia, pare d'Alexandre Magne, qui la va reanomenar Filipòpolis. Fou independent fins l'annexió a l'imperi romà; llavors es va anomenar Trimontium (ciutat dels tres turons), i fou la capital de la província de Tràcia. La via militaris, la via militar més important dels Balcans passava per Trimontium. Encara avui dia es conserven vestigis de l'època romana.
A mitjans del segle VI, s'hi establiren els eslaus. No fou fins l'any 815 que esdevinguè part de l'estat de Bulgària. En els segles següents, el control de la ciutat canviaria entre el búlgar i el Imperi Bizantí|bizantí alternant-se vàries vegades.
L'any 1364 la ciutat és conquerida per l'imperi otomà. El nom de Plóvdiv apareix per primera vegada en el segle XV, i és derivat de noms més antics de la ciutat: Pulpudeva, o Puldin (Пълдин).
Sota el control otomà, Plóvdiv fou el centre del moviment nacional búlgar. L'any 1878 la ciutat és alliberada dels otomans i roman com una capital semi-independent de la regió de Rumèlia Oriental. L'any 1885 la ciutat és annexada finalment a Bulgària.
Passada la segona guerra mundial, i ja sota un govern comunista|comunisme, Plóvdiv esdevé el centre del moviment democràtic del país, fins la caiguda del comunisme del 1989
