Göteborg: Guide
Göteborg és la segona ciutat de Suècia, amb 484.106 habitants (2006). Fundada l'any 1621, el seu nom significa ciutat o fortalesa dels Gots, Göteborg en suec, Gothenburg en anglès i Gotemburgo en castellà.
És una important ciutat industrial (hi ha factories de Volvo, i SKF), amb un dels ports més importants de tota Escandinàvia, i el més important de Suècia. Són destacables nombrosos edificis del centre de la ciutat així com tota una xarxa de canals que travessen la ciutat, dissenyats per arquitectes Països Baixos|neerlandesos a partir del segle XVII. Al segle XIX sofrí una forta industrialització en mans d'homes de negoci Anglaterra|anglesos i Escòcia|escocesos.
És important la comunicació per via fluvial que uneix la ciutat amb la capital sueca, Estocolm, a través de l'interior del país. Es tracta del Göta Älv o canal Got per on transcorren vaixells d'un cert calat, aquest canal connecta una sèrie de llacs, entre ells, dos dels més importants del país: Vänern i Vättern.
També és ressenyable el paisatge de la costa a Göteborg, que contrasta amb la resta del país, amb un estès arxipèlag d'illes granítiques que esquitxen tot el litoral de Göteborg i provincia (Göteborg och Bohusland). Així són illes dignes d'un bell passeig turístic: Marstrand, Tjörn i Öckerö entre d'altres.
